Plovdiv is Bulgaria's second largest city, located 150 km south-east of Sofia. It occupies the western part of the Upper Thracian Plain is spread over six hills (so-called "tepeta" Plovdivului giving the popular name of "City of Tepeta") and two banks of Maritsa River .
A city not talking about a lot, but extremely tender. Located in southern Bulgaria, is the second largest and one of the richest in history, thanks to its millennial culture. Plovdiv is one of the oldest cities in Europe.
Plovdiv boasts more than 200 archaeological sites, of which 30 are of national importance. I really need to see the Roman Amphitheatre, dating from the 2nd century BC and from Plovdiv Roman Stadium, one of the largest Roman structure in the Balkans, built during the reign of Septimus Severus (193-211). Stadium includes the best preserved amphitheater and other structures in the Balkans and the ruins of the Agora, another theater, the remains of an aqueduct, temples and villas with stunning frescoes.
