Cave City is located between the Thracian lowland and the Rhodope Mountains. The cave is located 125 km southeast of Sofia, 40 km southwest of Plovdiv, 20 km south of Pazardjik and 15 km north of Batak.
The city alpha elevation 300-499 m above sea level, covers an area of 90,245 km ² and has a population of 19,302 inhabitants (census 01/01/2007).
Peshtera is an old city, was recognized with a number of archaeological discoveries. Findings remain Thracian fortresses, bridges and paved roads, proving that it appeared that a settlement in the fourth century BC.
