Pleven is located in the central part of the Danube Plain, about 150 meters above sea level. It is located 174 km northeast of Sofia, 35 km north of Lovech, 146 km south-west of Russia.
It is a beautiful city, famous for its buildings, monuments and architecture. It is one of the most environmentally friendly cities in Bulgaria. A green area

Pleven has a rich history. He became known during the war of liberation in 1878. The village is known for the important role it had in 1877-1878 Russo-Turkish war. The fall of Pleven in 1877 after four months of siege by the Russian and Romanian troops, led the Turks to seek a truce.
Most tourist attractions in town are related to the Russo-Turkish War. It is, in general, the 200 monuments dedicated to this historic event. Nature is very beautiful and generous in the region of Pleven. Kailuka Park is located near the city on the river Tuchenitsa. And at only 12 km from the town is situated the natural reserve "Chernelka", located in the Danube meadow. Visitors are impressed by the natural rock column "Mechoka", the medieval fortress "Gradishte" cave "Tzareva" and the Roman road.
Pleven has many restaurants and entertainment places. Wherever you choose to taste the local cuisine, do not forget the traditional wine Telisha "and the famous" pivo "of Pleven.
