Kavarna

Yacht port town (about two yacht harbors are under construction) Kavarna is situated 48 km from Varna, 38 km from the border with Romania, just 18 km and 30 km from Cape Kaliakra Albena and Golden Sands.

The city is located in the north-eastern Bulgaria, embracing the coast, north of the recreation complex Albena. The name comes from the word Karvun city - the name of an independent principality in the fourteenth century. Today the town of Kavarna is where tourism flourishes especially during the summer. Not far from Cape Kaliakra Kavarna is a rocky promontory, over 70 meters high, a tongue of land extending east from the sea over a distance of 2 km.

Recommendations for travel Kavarna

Near Kavarna, about 12 km east of Cape Kaliakra is located where the ancient city was discovered Tirisis. According to legend, it was a hiding place where his treasures Lyzimah, successor of Alexander the Great. During the Roman Empire, the city was named Tetrasiada, then during the Byzantine domination - Akre, and in the Middle Ages - Kaliakra. Today there are quite many remains of these ancient settlements and some of them can be seen exhibited in a small museum housed in a limestone cave. There is a legend that tells the story of several Bulgarian girls who chose to jump off high rock, hair tangled with each other to be changed to avoid religion in Islam by the Turks.

Nowadays Kavarna is a modern city, especially famous rock festivals and concerts held every summer.
