The city is located in the north-eastern Bulgaria, embracing the coast, north of the recreation complex Albena. The name comes from the word Karvun city - the name of an independent principality in the fourteenth century. Today the town of Kavarna is where tourism flourishes especially during the summer. Not far from Cape Kaliakra Kavarna is a rocky promontory, over 70 meters high, a tongue of land extending east from the sea over a distance of 2 km. There are pictures of the most spectacular scenery created by nature on the entire coast. Kaliakra name means "beautiful head" because of its red color, pink on calcium that is there now. In the fourth century a fortress was built here in antiquity, which served as a monastery.
Kavarna is a vacation spot ever more attractive, combining modern comfort with unique atmosphere of the city, and at the same time offering peace and charm of holidays throughout the year. Kavarna is becoming an attractive place for tourists and golf lovers. This is due to the construction of three professional golf courses in the area between the towns of Balchik and Kavarna. In recent years, the town of Kavarna is home to a large number of rock concerts of several bands, both Bulgarian and international (Deep Purple, Scorpions, Nazareth, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Dio, Motorhead, Manowar, etc..), Which contributed to that city to be called Kavarna Rock Capital in Bulgaria.
Kavarna is connected with the Varna and Dobrich Balchik. There are regular bus routes, as well as private transportation - buses, taxis. Shipping can be used near the town of Balchik.
